The Chelmsford Deanery AGM began promptly at 10.30am with the arrival of the Deanery Chairman Mrs Janet Pettifer. Following prayers said by Revd Jane Anderson, apologies were noted and the minutes of the pervious meeting where briefly discussed. The Deanery Chairman gave her report and the Treasurer’s report was circulated and clarified. The Deanery Chairman Janet Pettifer said that she would be standing down at the end of her term and it was noted that Carol Gumbleton was voted in as the next Deanery Chairman.

Future dates were discussed and it was noted that A Bring & Share lunch would be held on Monday 23rd May 2016 starting at 11.30am during which Carol Gumbleton might be commissioned as the next Deanery Chairman, but the commissioning and food provided is still to be verified. Carol presented Janet with a bouquet of flowers and thanked her for her work as Chairman over the last three years, it was then noted that the next Deanery AGM would be held on Monday 21st November 2016. Cakes and refreshment were served once the meeting ended and before we all went into St Augustine’s Church for the MU Advent Service.

Revd Jane Anderson had made us feel very welcome and led us through a meaningful Advent service entitled ‘Watch and wait and pray’. Beryl Dean played beautifully on the church organ as we sang three lovely hymns ‘O come, o come, Emmanuel’, ‘Christ be our light!’, and ‘Long ago prophets knew’ and the service ended with words taken from the Chelmsford Deanery Advent Service lead by Revd Jane Anderson

We travel through Advent as forgiven people, lifting our faces towards the light.Let us walk together in hope, in faith and in love. Amen
