Did you enjoy the Mothering Sunday Service in your church? If it was anything like our service here at St Mary’s in Broomfield, you would have gone home very happy, uplifted and laden down with flowers…
Our Associate Priest gave the address and surprised most of the congregation by saying that the cost of rearing a child from birth to the age of 21 now cost on average £222.000 plus, however, it seems that the cost in worry, care and love was way beyond any price-tag… We are very fortunate in our church as we have a Puppet Ministry who sometimes perform at the family services and especially on such occasions as Mothering Sunday – This year the puppets staged an endearing performance to the song ‘Lovely Day’ by Bill Withers… Ahhh!
There were at least three large baskets packed tight with spring flowers that were distributed around the church after being blessed, they went to the children first then to all the ladies in the congregation and once every lady had her flowers we were invited to take some posies home to other family members and to anyone we knew who needed cheering up on such a special day for all us mums, nans and great-grandmothers.
If you enjoyed your Mothering Sunday service why not email me at: firstname.lastname@example.org tell me all about it and send me a photo too, so that I can put it on your website - Joan
