Helping to grow a family well

Helping to grow a family well

Hello to everyone, here are some photos from our Mothering Sunday service that was held at Moulsham St Luke’s, Chelmsford. I took the service and we used the excellent resources and liturgy developed by the Mothers’ Union and St Mellitus College - it would be good to find out whether other churches used these resources too.

We focused on ‘mothering’ so not just mothers, recognising that many women find the day to be difficult for a variety of reasons, and how to grow a family well.

I have sent in four photographs and in the first and main photo we show reminders of what helps a family to grow well, reminders of love, forgiveness, food, time together, and a toy mouse representing all the horrible jobs that somebody needs to do! In our second photo you can see how we wrote our prayers on watering cans as we gave thanks to those who had mothered us, if off course we had been mothered, and sought God’s love for those that hadn’t and felt sad today. Our third photo shows how we placed all of our prayers at the foot of the cross, and in our fourth photo it shows how everyone received a cupcake and a silk flower posy to celebrate mothering and our church family. I hope you enjoy my lovely photos. Lucy Bubb…
