Mary Mumner Service

Mary Mumner Service

Mary Sumner Day Service: The diocese will be holding a service of celebration at 2pm on Tuesday 9th August to mark this year’s Mary Sumner Day. Members may join us live at Holy Trinity Church, Barkingside or by Zoom. The service will begin with a welcome and as you gather to celebrate and hope to be inspired by the example of the founder of Mothers’ Union, Mary Sumner; along with a desire to transform lives and re-imagine Mothers’ Union for the future by the building up of all the leadership roles in the MU. The opening hymn is ‘In Christ Alone’ followed by prayers. There will be two short readings and a verse from Psalm 32: There is a beautiful Gospel reading from Matthew 4: which is followed by the hymn ‘O Jesus I have promised’. Our President Maxine gives a talk, which will be followed by prayers of intersession and thanksgiving including words from the Jubilee Summer of Hope booklet. The inspiring closing hymn is ‘Tell Out my Soul’. It sounds a wonderful service which I hope you will be able to attend, if not, you may wish to follow the service on Zoom and if none of that is for you – please download the PDF file of the full service that you will find below… Enjoy

May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. Romans 15:13
