Thoughts from your President, Maxine: Before I went on my cruise (to Portugal, Spain and France - very relaxing), it was a great privilege to join Lucy Bubb and the congregation at St Luke’s, Moulsham one Sunday morning and to be able to present their bronze RISE UP award certificate. Although there isn’t an MU branch there, Lucy, as a diocesan member, encouraged the PCC to join in and they have really embraced the campaign. Rev Andrew Merchant even used the MU RISE UP service readings and prayers and interviewed me about RISE UP and MU as part of his sermon. Some of you may remember his mother who was a fine needlewoman and made many of the MU banners around the diocese. Remember, there doesn’t need to be an MU branch in a church for it to be part of the campaign – any church can join in, so do tell others about it. I was also privileged to attend the installation service of the new assistant DDO for the diocese and part-time minister at St Paul’s, Woodford Bridge, Rev Alexandra Podd, and welcome her on behalf of CDMU.
