Wednesday 1st December: Today as part of our 16 Days of Activism we think of the elderly women and men who are stuck with an abusive family member and we pray that they will seek and find help.
Tuesday 30th November: Across Britain and Ireland, over 210 requests for refuge are turned away every day. Today we pray for the women who need to access refuges, for the women who are healing from trauma, for staff on the frontline and for the provision of adequate supplies of emergency refuge accommodation. We pray in particular for all the support services within the Chelmsford diocese supporting survivors of gender-based violence and for the safe places they provide for women and children.
The Safe Place initiative is a simple way for organisations to provide information and signposting for anyone affected by domestic abuse. Sign up for your church to be part of raising awareness in your community: www.onustraining.co.uk/play-your-part
This year money raised through the Mothers’ Union Christmas Appeal will go to support victims of gender-based violence across Africa. Mothers’ Union will empower 4,225 gender-based violence survivors or women at risk with vital support and skills to heal and remain safe. These women will become community advocates, supporting activities that challenge harmful behaviours that endanger women, helping achieve long-term change. The Christmas Appeal opens from 12pm today for donations on the Big Give website - https://donate.thebiggive.org.uk/campaign/a056900001v54AQAAY
