Congratulations to Stuart Gibbs from Billericay who took part in the Prudential Ride London event. 'The Ride London Event' took place on Sunday 30th July and there were about 25,000 riders with hundreds of thousands of spectators lining the 100-mile route, from the Stratford Olympic Stadium into Surrey and back to the Mall.
We met up with the finishers in Green Park. The riders set off at various times from about 07:00 hours. I did not record the arrival times of the other riders because I was only interested in Stuart (Gibbs) who was riding for Chelmsford Diocese Mothers' Union as well as MSH. Â Stuart arrived back at his estimated time of 17:00 hrs. We were really lucky with the weather; not too hot and just little rain to keep us cool.
Judith Meaden our President asked MU Branches throughout the Diocese to support Stuart. We do not have a final total amount that was raised yet because the fundraising events are still taking place. We know Stuart had raised over £500. And it's still not too late for your branch to hold an event which would.
Judith says, 'Thank you so much Stuart for riding on behalf of the MU and doing so fantastically well'. Brilliant!, Well done from all of us. - Merrill Knight.
